slow 10GBE and windows driver

    i have Windows.Packet.Filter.3.6.2.1.x64.msi

    Windows 11 Enterprise

    NIC – Marvell AQtion AQC113

    and i got major connection speed drop on iperf3 in LAN like to 1.7Gbit/s

    i have jumbo frames disabled and iperf3 runs fine without driver – true 10gbit

    and after installing driver speed drops to 1.7 gbit

    also there a few filters (adguard/adguard vpn symantec) on system that doesn’t affect 10gbit

    I have tested the driver with several 10 Gbps network adapters and have not observed any noticeable performance degradation. One example is the Broadcom P210tep NetXtreme-E dual-port 10GBASE-T PCIe adapter.

    However, 10 Gbps networking is still relatively niche, and hardware and driver implementations can vary significantly. To provide a universal packet-processing interface, Windows Packet Filter disables NIC task offloading features; jumbo frames are just the most commonly discussed example. This may affect different network adapters and their drivers in different ways.

    The drop from 10 Gbps to 1.7 Gbps is unusually large, so the issue may be specific to the Marvell AQtion AQC113 driver or its interaction with other network filters installed on the system.

    I’m seeing something very similar on my setup. I’m running Windows 11 Enterprise with a Marvell AQtion AQC113, and I tested Windows Packet Filter 3.6.2.1.

    With the driver installed, iperf3 performance over LAN drops dramatically to around 1.7 Gbit/s. Without the driver, the same setup reaches the expected 10 Gbit/s. 🚀

    I also have jumbo frames disabled, and other filters such as AdGuard, AdGuard VPN, and Symantec don’t seem to affect the 10 Gbit/s speed when Windows Packet Filter isn’t installed.

    The drop from 10 Gbit/s to 1.7 Gbit/s is quite significant. I’m wondering if the AQC113 is particularly sensitive to the NIC offloading changes mentioned here. Has anyone tested this combination and found which offload setting makes the biggest difference? 🤔

    That’s a pretty significant drop in speed, especially when the same setup reaches 10 Gbps without the driver. I’d be curious to know whether checking the NIC offloading settings or testing with a different driver version makes any difference. It would also be useful to compare results with and without the other network filters enabled. Hopefully, you can track down what’s causing the bottleneck soon! 🔧

    That’s a really interesting issue, especially considering the connection reaches the expected 10 Gbps speed when the driver is removed. It seems like NIC offloading or compatibility with the Marvell AQC113 could be worth investigating further. Testing different driver versions and network filter combinations might help narrow down the cause. Hopefully, a solution is found soon! 👍
